Stupid Error Messages, Part 6

Problem

More Lotus Notes error messages:

The above occurred when I tried to View a WordPerfect document. I could Open it and Edit it from that idiotic window, but not view it. I suppose that there is no Lotus Notes internal viewer available for WordPerfect, which is unfortunate, but the error message is absolutely inexcusable.

The following message is extremely unhelpful:

The error below is one that appeared while I was exploring Contacts:

I like the following:

What error? What request? What object? Why I am being told this?

and RW sent me this one:

What's a memory segment? Why do I care? What do I do now? What does this mean? The next one is really great:

Think about it. If I must change my password, why I am I given a No button to click? What happens if I click No? Why is there no period after the second sentence? Is anybody paying attention to what they are doing over at Lotus Notes headquarters?

Analysis

I give up.

User Interface Guideline Violations

• Interrupting the user's work flow with a pointless dialog box.
• Forcing the user to do more work than necessary.
• Forcing the user to deal with stupidity.

Conclusion

Lotus Notes sucks.
