Stupid Error Messages, Part 4
Problem
Lotus Notes all of sudden demanded my password while I was clicking somewhere. Since I didn't really need to do whatever it was I was doing at the time, I foolishly clicked Cancel. The notorious logon dialog box appeared. Of course, that dialog box would not go away until I click Cancel about five more times. Finally, this message appeared:
After I clicked OK, the following appeared:
Analysis
This is just too stupid to comment on.
User Interface Guideline Violations
- Interrupting the user's work flow with a pointless dialog box.
- Forcing the user to do more work than necessary.
- Forcing the user to deal with stupidity.
Conclusion
Lotus Notes sucks.
