[Lotus Notes Sucks: Example 62]
Print Preview a Folder
Problem
To Print Preview a folder
- Right-click a folder, such as your Inbox.
- Click Print.
- On the dialog box that appears, click the Preview button.
Take a good look at the result. Below is a thumbnail version of what you get. (There's little point in showing it in full-size.)
I shrunk the image because there is little point in looking at the larger version. It has buttons along the top labelled Done, Next Page, Zoom In, etc. as you would expect. The fun part is looking at the preview itself—a sheet of paper with a box containing the text "Outline: MailOutline".
Analysis
I might expect this type of unprofessional performance from shareware, but not from expensive "enterprise"-level software. And why would anyone want to print preview a folder anyway?
User Interface Guideline Violations
- Interface does not do as the user expects.
- Forcing the user to deal with stupidity.
Update for Version 6.5.2
It appears this problem is finally fixed in Lotus Notes version 6.5.2.
Conclusion
Lotus Notes sucks in spite of having this problem fixed.
