[Lotus Notes Sucks: Example 43]
Creating Objects
Problem
You can insert objects, such as controls and other weird things in a Lotus Notes mail message. On the Create menu, click Object to open a dialog box of objects that you can insert. Experimenting with this, it is not long before I see errors such as:
and
and
and my favorite
Analysis
It's bad enough these errors occur considering the cost of licensing Lotus Notes, but these error messages are gibberish.
As I continue to insert objects, it's not long before this dialog box appears:
because Lotus Notes crashed. It seems that the memory could not be "read." It's too bad that Lotus Notes "sucks."
User Interface Guideline Violations
- Forcing the user to deal with stupidity.
- Giving the user an incomplete error message.
- User is given useless information.
- Giving the user an incomprehensible error message.
Conclusion
Lotus Notes sucks.
