Is There a Ship in Port?
Problem
Lotus Notes can very helpful if you are in the Navy:
Analysis
This message really clears things up. Apparently, the secretaries around here need to understand hardware terms to use Lotus Notes.
But at least I am told how to use a port. That is, from the File menu, point to Mobile, point to Edit, point to Current, then choose Location. Right? No, it's actually from the File menu, point to Mobile, then select Edit Current Location. Somebody raise the anchor and let's leave!
User Interface Guideline Violations
- Interrupting the user's work flow with a dialog box that should never have a reason to appear.
- User is given useless information.
- Giving the user an incomprehensible error message.
- Nesting submenu commands five deep.
- Forcing the user to deal with stupidity.
Conclusion
Lotus Notes sucks.
